This past Christmas I bought...err... Santa brought *Lil Man* zhu zhu pets for Christmas. Cute right? Well, since Christmas he has lost one, broken one, and the third ran out of batteries. Since they are easier to find now (gotta love the Christmas rush!) I decided to send *R* one for Easter and I told *Lil Man* that hopefully the Easter bunny would bring him one as well. I didn't want just the regular old zhu zhu pet! I wanted something special and unique! After I started looking online for them I saw how ridiculously expensive the "custom" pets were. So I made my own! You can too! All you need is: Fabric Markers, one zhu zhu pet (preferably white!), and a little bit of coloring skills!
I picked up these markers from a local craft store. They had all sorts of different colors, packages, prices, tip sizes... TONS! I picked these because they are "Easter colors" and because they have two different tips...I wasn't sure which I would need.
I couldn't find 'Chunk' the all white zhu zhu pet so I picked up 'Jilly' the pink and white zhu zhu pet. You can find zhu zhu pets just about anywhere now... Wal mart, Fred Meyer, Target, Walgreens, Toys R Us, etc. Check out their WEBSITE to see what stores carry them near you.
Remove the zhu zhu from the box and decide what you want it to look like. We decided on pink and purple, because those colors are perfect for a princess! Since Jilly the hamster was already pink we only colored the white portions purple. The fine brush tip side of the marker was used on the white fur that was nearest the pink fur. Next we colored the rest of the white fur with the thick bullet tip side.
Ta-Da! We now have our very own custom Easter zhu zhu pet hamster! (The purple areas dried to a nice lavender color and it doesn't look as 'wet' as the picture makes it.) Now you can know how to color and make your very own custom zhu zhu pet! I have heard of people coloring the pets with kool-aid, spray paint, and all sorts of other things. I suggest using the fabric markers because they are non-toxic, the fur dries and stays soft, it is permanent, and it takes only minutes to have a perfect custom zhu zhu pet!
I just started a new jobby job. Training has been killing me, no fun at all! I worked almost ten hours today which leaves no time for bliggity blog updates. On the good side... I got to eat Olive Garden breadsticks... YUM!! That's right, they are opening an Olive Garden where I live and I get to be a part of the opening crew!! Bartending, always fun!
I promise to not be too terribly distant after next week. I also start school on Monday which will be quite hectic... Husband deployed, School, work, blog, kids... (not in that order of course!) Just madness!!
I have seen this once or twice before but wanted to share it with everyone who hasn't seen it. Enjoy! Everyone needs to "LOL" every once in a while!
What do you see in this picture....?
After it was graded and the child brought it home, she returned to school the next day with the following note: Dear Ms. Davis, I want to be very clear on my child's illustration. It is NOT of me on a dance pole on a stage in a strip joint. I work at Home Depot and had commented to my daughter how much money we made in the recent snowstorm. This drawing is of me selling a shovel. Mrs. Harrington

A Veteran is someone who at one point in their life wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America', for an amount up to, and including their life'. That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today, who no longer understand that fact! (Thanks Liana! I love this!)

Last night was more than a little rough. *Lil Man* and I stayed in the hotel, we had to get up this morning to take care of a few more things before we head to the in laws to live for the next few months (the picture to the right is their backyard view, uhhhmazzzing!!). Our list of errands included things like getting paint chips fixed on *Cpt Mac*'s new truck, finish picking out items from the showroom for our house... Wait! What house you ask? Well... two days before we had to say good bye for this deployment... we decided to build a house!! Yes, I know we are nuts! Talk about stress! Let's see... 1. Deployment 2. Building a house 3. Raising a two year old 4. Work 5. School... I'm sure I could add a few more items to my list of stressful events in my life! Oh well, push on! The busier I am the faster the end of deployment will be here! Let the countdown begin!
After our day full o' errands was coming to a close, it was time to drive the beast (aka-the new truck) back to our temporary home. On the road with my best friend TomTom! Well, TomTom decided he wanted me to take a new route home...maybe it was faster, maybe it was shorter, who knows! He took me off the highway and through a town, he also lied to me about what the speed limit was! Jerk! Next thing I know *Lil Man* is excited because a police man is talking to mommy! Yay! Turns out I was doing 66 in a 55, ouch. I'm not one to speed, especially with my son in the car. Then the cop asked for registration... ummm... It was a brand new truck, filled to the bursting point with everything imaginable, and I couldn't find it!! Uh-oh!! That's when I told him that it was my husband's truck and "He Deployed Yesterday". Well, Mr. Police Man took my license back to his car. All I could think about was how I was going to get arrested for not having the registration or insurance, or maybe the dealership had sold us a stolen car... okok, maybe not! But hey! I was nervous! Mr. Police Man walked back up to the beast and handed me my license...
(thank goodness! I got out of the ticket! please don't hand me a ticket! pretty please! Pretty pretty please!)
He kindly said "I dropped your ticket down for you."
(What, what?? Does that mean I'm off the hook?? It worked??!)
"I dropped it down to 65 in a 55mph. You have 15 days to respond to this citation."
(Whhhaaattt!?!? Really??!! You dropped my ticket down 1 mph!? Thanks dude!! How sweet of you! Did I mention my husband deployed YESTERDAY!!)
Needless to say, I switched my GPS over to a female voice and named it Sally. Men should really let women handle driving directions anyway! ;)
